Once the lab receives the sample and no drugs are detected, the result will report out to you within an average of 24 hours. If drugs are detected in the sample it will go through a secondary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) screening process, which typically takes an additional 24 hours. If the secondary test comes out negative you will have the results in an average of 48 hours. If the secondary testing confirms a positive result the drug screen will go the the Medical Review Officer (MRO) who will then contact the candidate to determine if the result was due to a prescription medication.
